2-162 Infantry Unit Deploying Soon

Posted by | June 13, 2014 | No Comments on 2-162 Infantry Unit Deploying Soon

Vey soon, the 2-162 Infantry Unit from Oregon will be deploying to Afghanistan.  Their Chaplain will be our director, CH CPT Shane Yates.  They are currently going through training and should be deploying sometime in August.  They will be returning home in May, 2015.  Plase keep Pastor Shane and all of these men and women in your prayers.

We are putting together care packages for the families of the enlisted men and women in this unit to help them with basic necessities as well as giving them information about Healing Heroes and other resources to help give them spiritual and emotional support.  If you would like more details on this effort, check out the blog on our web site titled “OPERATION FOOT SOLDIER SUPPORT”.

While Pastor Shane is gone we will continue to offer support to military, first responders and their families here as well.  We will also continue to participate in many events throughout Orange County so please check our Facebook page and web site for details.  Our Director of Field Operations, Timothy Yates, is working hard to continue to keep our ministry active and serving our community.

As always, we appreciate your prayers and support.

These photos were taken at the send off for the 2-162 on June 7, 2014.

On May 14, Pastor Shane spoke at a chapel service at Christ Lutheran School, Costa Mesa, CA.  He talked about the duties of a military chaplain.  After he spoke the children prayed that God would bless and protect him during his deployment.  They also presented him with letters written by each student to him, his family, and some of the soldiers in his unit.

Healing Heroes Ministries Provides Baby Baskets and Disneyland Tickets for 13th MEU Families

We are honored to partner with the 13th MEU Adoption Committee. We were acknowledged twice in their most recent newsletter!

“Providing a baby basket to all new parents is another way we support the families of the MEU. The baskets are filled with all the things new parents need when they bring their new baby home from the hospital. Many thanks to HEALING HEROES MINISTRIES and the SAN ANTONIO MOM’S CLUB for their continuing support of this project. Both groups have been generously donating baskets all along and each group donated several baskets last month. Thanks also to the KIWANIS CLUB OF GREATER ANAHEIM for their donations of the Baby 411 books that are included in each basket – these books are such a great resource for all new parents!

Thank you also to HEALING HEROES MINISTRIES for their recent donation of Disneyland tickets. We are so blessed to be partnered with so many who are always willing to give their time and resources to help our families. God Bless you all!!”

Hours of boredom filled with moments of pure explosive action. This is the life of a service member. Their time is taken up with extensive training in preparation for those decisive moments. We can help them prepare!

As media attention moves to the latest news event, we could slowly forget the ongoing sacrifices made by our military heroes and their families. There are approximately 40,000 American service members who remain in harm’s way in Afghanistan, making sacrifices to protect us… our families… and our freedom.

Soldiers of an Infantry Combat Team will soon be heading to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring freedom. Healing Heroes Ministries wants to encourage, honor and help prepare them and their families for the challenges ahead.

We have launched a care package campaign, Operation Foot Soldier Support, to encourage and prepare these heroes of the Infantry Combat Team. Each care package will also contain 4 gift cards – a VONS food card, gas card, movie card, and a Target store card valued at $25 for each card. These cards will be given to lower ranking enlisted soldiers who need it most.

$15,000 is urgently needed to get these care packages to our troops prior to their deployment. The average cost per relief package is around $150, so your gift of $50 would cover a third of a care pack, $150 helps one family and $300 covers costs of helping two families. One hundred percent of these donated funds will go directly to these families and package preparation.

This situation in Afghanistan is sobering as the April presidential election will go to a second round in June after no one candidate garnered more than 50% of the vote… but you can do something for our heroes who are deploying there. Our team and partners are already in place delivering not only basic necessities, but hope that someone remembers and cares. All that’s needed are the resources to keep this ministry going!

As they march into battle for freedom, they march against the gates of hades for a higher cause… we ask you to join us to honor their unquestioned loyalty to this great nation.

Please join us once again in “Serving Those Who Sacrifice.” Our mission is to heal our heroes… one at a time, so please give the gift of hope to one, two or more of our nation’s heroes today! Donations can be made securely through our web site or sent to our office in Anaheim. Please put “Operation Foot Soldier Support” in the comment line online or the memo line of your check.

Thank you and God bless you for your prayers and support of Healing Heroes Ministry and the heroes we serve and support.
