TASK FORCE HEROES
Orange, CA — As part of Orange Lutheran High School’s commitment to providing for excellence in Christian character development, each year its senior class leads a school and community-wide effort to raise funds for a specific service project that helps others in need. Orange Lutheran is excited to announce this year’s initiative – Task Force: Heroes – as well as a partnership with Healing Heroes Ministries (HHM).
Created by Pastor Shane Yates, an Iraq veteran and proud parent of two Orange Lutheran alumni, HHM exists to provide spiritual and emotional support for our military, law enforcement and other first responders and their families.
Orange Lutheran and HHM hope to raise $10,000 to provide 100 military families care packages filled with everyday essentials, information to assist in the difficult transition from the battlefield to civilian life, and a devotional.
Musician and senior Angelia Smith became so inspired by her school’s effort, she felt compelled to donate proceeds from a song she wrote entitled “Brave Soldier.”
When asked why she decided to help in this way, Smith responded, “It’s an honor to combine my passion for music and my great love and respect for this cause.”
Rachel Eklund, Orange Lutheran’s director of student activities, could not be more proud of the project, “It is so inspiring to see our students consistently get behind and support such impactful causes. They feel blessed to help those that protect our freedom.”
