Pastor Shane Yates is the President of the Board of Directors and Pastor of Task Force Heroes. His ministry role to those served by Task Force Heroes is that of a pastor who is with them in the trenches. His favorite analogy to describe his commitment to the men and women of military and law enforcement and other first responders is this:
“I want to walk alongside them in the middle of the spiritual battle field. Our goal is to minister to them and to love them, not to judge them.”
Pastor Yates has 30 years of combined law enforcement and military service. He is a Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom whose awards include a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and Combat Action Badge.
Pastor Yates is an ordained minister through the Conservative Lutheran Association and holds a B.A. in Comparative Religions and an M.Div. from Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary. Before moving to Montana, Pastor Yates served as a full time Associate Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Anaheim, CA, for 7 years.
Together Pastor Yates and his wife Karon have two adult daughters and two teenage boys in addition to their older son. His oldest son is a Purple Heart recipient and a veteran of both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The whole family considers Shane’s service to our nation’s heroes as the family’s calling from God. Pastor Yates enjoys spending time with his family as well as fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities.
“We have all made mistakes, in our marriages, our careers, and our personal lives, but we have an advocate and a savior in Jesus who loves us and came to this earth to redeem us, It’s not about us, but it is all about Christ.”
“Serving those that have served us is our top priority.”
