Pastor Shane Yates is the President of the Board of Directors and Pastor of Task Force Heroes. His ministry role to those served by Task Force Heroes is that of a Pastor who is with them in the trenches. His favorite analogy to describe his commitment to the men and women of military and law enforcement and other first responders is this: “I want to walk alongside them in the middle of the spiritual battle field”. “Our goal is to minister to them and to love them, not to judge them.”
Pastor Yates has nearly 29 years of combined law enforcement and military service. He is a Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom whose awards include a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and Combat Action Badge. Pastor Yates is currently a full time associate Pastor serving his church (Trinity Lutheran Anaheim) and the SR Pastor of Task Force Heroes.
Pastor Yates is an ordained minister through the Conservative Lutheran Association and holds a BA in comparative religions and an MDIV from Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary. He is married to his wife Karon of 26 years. Together Pastor Yates and his wife have two adult daughters and two teenage boys in addition to their older son. His oldest son is a Purple Heart recipient and a veteran of both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The whole family considers Shane’s service to our nation’s heroes as the family’s calling from God. Pastor Yates enjoys spending time with his family and coaching high school football.
“We have all made mistakes, in our marriages, our careers, and our personal lives, but we have an advocate and a savior in Jesus who loves us and came to this earth to redeem us, It’s not about us, but it is all about Christ.”
“Serving those that have served us is our top priority.”
